Taconic State Park consists of more than 5,000 acres, located generally along 11 miles of border, separating New York State from the States of Massachusetts and Connecticut. The Park has facilities for swimming, hiking, fishing, picnicking and camping, along with a Historic Site and the spectacular Bash Bish Falls. For swimming there's the Ore Pit Pond, 40
feet deep, but on a clear day you can see the bottom. It's stocked with Rainbow Trout for fishing too! For the younger set, there's the Wading Pond.
Surrounded by lush green grass and shade trees Take a hike along the river to the beautiful Bash Bish Falls.
Or visit the old Iron Foundry.
Built in 1845 by
Lemuel Pomeroy and his sons of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The building stands
as a museum and contains all the original implements of the time. The buildings that once housed the iron workers, have now been converted
into Camping Cabins. The Park has just completed construction on a new group of cabins to accommodate the handicapped. For more information on the Taconic State Park, Copake Falls Area, please call the park office at: (518)329-3993 |
